Summary of Duties:
Under the direction of the Deputy Management and Consular Officer (DMCO) and the Vehicle Dispatcher, the specialized Technician in mechanic is responsible for servicing vehicles and other motorized equipment owned or leased by the Mission, inspecting vehicles, identifying defects, Maintain and repair braking systems, clutches, manual and/or automatic transmissions, wash wheels and make minor repairs to suspension, fuel injection and air conditioning systems, electrical and electronic systems, replace tires; Maintain an inventory, order parts and ensure proper liaison with specialty shops for body and major mechanical repairs, make recommendations to local management regarding the condition of vehicles and maintain an up-to-date maintenance schedule.
Area of Selection:
This position is open to employees currently holding an indeterminate or term position at the Embassy of Canada, as well as temporary employees, who meet all essential qualifications and whose applications are received by the closing date.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, language* and experience.
Candidates must clearly demonstrate when applying to the position how they meet each of these essential qualifications.
*Language will be assessed further during the process.
Education:
Candidates will be required to provide proof of the completion of their education.
- High School diploma ;
- Certificate / Diploma from a professional institution in the field of automobile mechanic
Language:
Fluency in French and Créole (read, spoken and written).
Experience:
- Minimum two (2) years of recent experience working as a mechanic;
- Minimum 3 years of *recent experience in driving Armoured Vehicles in the metropolitan area and in provinces;
- Experience in planning, supervising and implementing preventive and corrective maintenance plans;
- Experience in inventory and stock management of automotive parts.
* Recent is defined as within the last five (5) years.
RATED REQUIREMENTS
The Rated Requirements are part of the essential qualifications and are relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies. Methods of assessment for rated requirements may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview (online pre-recorded/live or in-person), role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.
Knowledge:

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications.
- Relevant experience in a similar role in a diplomatic mission or in an international organization;
- Knowledge of English (spoken and written);
- Handling of heavy machinery.
Operational Requirements:
- Normal working hours: 37.5 hours/week (Monday to Friday);
- Ability to work occasional overtime outside normal working hours (e.g. early mornings, evenings and weekends) and potentially on short notice;
- A combination of Haitian and Canadian statutory holidays, which means you will be required to work on certain Haitian holidays;
- Must be physically able to do manual work;
- Ability to work in dusty environments, with strong odors and subject to temperature fluctuations, in compliance with guidelines and with the provision of appropriate safety equipment;
- Physical ability to move equipment and heavy loads (approximately 25 kg).
Conditions of Employment:
Conditions of employment must be met or complied with before being appointed to a particular position, and are to be maintained throughout the employment while being the incumbent of this position.
- Valid work authorization: Ability to obtain and hold a valid work authorization covering the entire employment period.
- Security screening: Obtain and maintain a Reliability Status (security level) which includes a criminal and credit background check from the Government of Canada covering the entire employment period.
