Summary of Duties:
Reporting to the Senior Maintenance Technician and/or Maintenance Engineer, the Specialized Technician provides specialized repairs and technical maintenance services on industrial and residential plumbing OR HVAC systems. This includes implementation of preventive and corrective maintenance work plan, carrying out breakdown repairs providing guidance and training in the area (s) of expertise.
The incumbent:
- Provides technical advice and recommendations to Senior Maintenance Technician and/or Maintenance Engineer on work to be done when doing periodic inspections for maintenance purposes;
- Provides technical advice and supervision to maintenance technicians and contractors on how to do the work such as maintenance, repairs, and/or replacement of equipment and/or systems;
- Perform work in accordance with safety and security regulations, professional codes, and national and local standards and procedures;
- Provides project/work progress reports and written technical assessments on scope, solutions, and costs estimates for projects or specialized maintenance/repair work and recommends suppliers and contractors when required;
- Provides technical expertise and responds to work requests requiring specialized installations, technical maintenance and repairs in following area of industrial and residential plumbing OR HVAC systems;
- Conducts maintenance, repairs and overhauling on systems and equipment in accordance with safety and security regulations, professional codes/local and national standards and procedures;
- Assists in ordering and recommending purchase of specialized equipment and tools;
- Assesses scope of the work and prepares final estimates for maintenance and repair services or projects as required and makes necessary purchases and documents into the project tracking system;
- Supports clients at the mission by prioritizing and coordinating technical maintenance and specialized repair activities in a way that maintains the continuity of mission operations as much as possible;
- Conducts pre and post occupancy inspections including fit up works;
- Inspects the work of contractors and maintenance technicians to ensure compliance with codes and standards, OEM specifications;
- Manages the schedule to ensure all tasks are carried out in the requested period.
- Assist with administrative tasks (e.g. inventory of tools and supplies) and general maintenance duties at the mission as required;
- Carries out duties to uphold mission security and safety and health policies and procedures.
- Conducts maintenance of following commercial centralized building mechanical and electrical systems: fire sprinkler and hydrant system, water treatment systems, swimming pool system, solar hot water systems, plumbing systems, sanitary and storm drainage system, office and home appliances, HVAC, etc.
Area of Selection:
This position is open to external applicants residing in India and internal occupying an indeterminate or term position in Government of Canada Missions based in India who meets all of the essential qualifications and whose applications are received by the closing date. Short-listed candidates should be able to participate in tests and interviews in New Delhi at own expense. The successful candidate will be required to relocate to New Delhi at own expense.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, language* and experience.
Candidates must clearly demonstrate when applying to the position how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

Education:
Candidates will be required to provide proof of the completion of their education.
- Industrial Training Institute (ITI) trade certificate (full time) from a recognized institute in Plumbing or HVAC.
Language:
- Intermediate fluency in English (speaking, reading and writing)
Experience:
- At least five (5) years of relevant experience in an international, diplomatic mission, or an established Indian commercial organization, or 5-star hotel in operation and maintenance in plumbing or HVAC system.
RATED REQUIREMENTS
The Rated Requirements are part of the essential qualifications and are relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies. Methods of assessment for rated requirements may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview (online pre-recorded/live or in-person), role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

Operational Requirements:
- Must be available for occasional duties outside normal working hours (i.e. evenings and weekends).
- Basic hours of work: 44.5 hours per week, hours to be determined with the manager.
Conditions of Employment:
Conditions of employment must be met or complied with before being appointed to a particular position, and are to be maintained throughout the employment while being the incumbent of this position.
- Valid work authorization: Ability to obtain and hold a valid work authorization covering the entire employment period.
- Security screening: Obtain and maintain a Reliability Status (security level) which includes a criminal and credit background check from the Government of Canada covering the entire employment period.
- Other conditions of employment:
- The successful candidate must be in excellent health. Prior to being hired to this position, the successful candidate will be required to pass a complete medical examination (funded by the mission).
