Summary of Duties:

The Embassy of Canada in Germany, is seeking to hire a Senior Regional Manager within the Export Development Canada Section, located in the Canadian Consulate in Düsseldorf.

Under the leadership and guidance of the Regional Vice-President – Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), the Senior Regional Manager plays a central role in EDC’s financial business development efforts in the Germany market. The incumbent is responsible for leading EDC’s business development efforts in a designated market of coverage[1]. As a senior EDC representative in the designated market of coverage, the Senior Regional Manager has continual interaction with Chief Executives, Chief Financial Officers, Treasurers and procurement influencers of EDC’s major local borrowers, senior bankers, , senior private sector representatives and senior public sector officials to discuss new financing needs, potential financial structuring solutions, credit analysis, risk mitigation issues and procurement needs. The incumbent is expected to leverage this extensive value-added network across the market of coverage in partnership with EDC’s Trade Connections, Investors and Exporter teams in order to enhance EDC’s capacity to support key clients and Canadian exporters and investors active in the market. As a trusted advisor to senior EDC management in the field and at Headquarters, the Senior Regional Manager is called upon to develop and implement strategies, approaches and initiatives for positioning the EDC brand in the markets of coverage. Strong collaboration with the entire Trade Connections and Financing & Investment teams is also required to develop and deliver innovative value-add solutions and trade creation initiatives to meet the business and program requirements within the market of coverage. In addition, the incumbent manages the Corporation’s relationship with the Canadian government at the various missions in which they are active, in particular with the Trade Commissioners Service.
Lastly, the Senior Regional Manager is accountable for the overall business results of EDC within the market of coverage against specified business targets with assigned strategic accounts.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, language* and experience.

Education:
Candidates will be required to provide proof of the completion of their education.
- MBA or Master’s degree in business or finance
OR - Relevant education and experience
Language:
- Professional level of written and spoken English (C2*) and German (C2*)
*According to the Common European Framework for Languages (CEFR)
Experience:
- Minimum 7 years of progressive financial work experience
- Recent relevant experience in: commercial/corporate/structured lending and strategic relationship management
- Experience in pursuing initiatives and originating financing opportunities
- Proven experience of developing and managing strategic relationships, especially with senior management
- Well-developed multi-sectoral business network in Europe with an emphasis on Germany
RATED REQUIREMENTS
The Rated Requirements are part of the essential qualifications and are relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies. Methods of assessment for rated requirements may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview (online pre-recorded/live or in-person), role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

- Ability to work effectively with relevant EDC teams and the TCS and exhibit strong teamwork skills
Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications.
- Knowledge of French
- Knowledge of EDC and/or Export Credit Agencies (ECA) products
- Strong appreciation and working knowledge of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles
Operational Requirements:
- Hours of work will be 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday
- Preparedness to work extra hours on occasion including evenings and weekends
- Ability to travel throughout Germany, Europe, and to Canada, as required
- Ability to travel to Ottawa, Canada for a 3-4 week training period will be required
Conditions of Employment:
Conditions of employment must be met or complied with before being appointed to a particular position, and are to be maintained throughout the employment while being the incumbent of this position.
