SUMM ARY OF DUTIES
The mission is seeking to fill a Senior Driver position. This position provides safe driving services to the Head of Mission and other senior officials, visitors or dignitaries. Core responsibilities include but are not limited to: operating one of the missions vehicles, driving an armoured vehicle, maintenance and cleaning related to AV and regular vehicles, providing errand services, and planning routes based on operational needs and Mission's security protocols.

This selection process is open to employees currently occupying an indeterminate or term position or temporary employment at the High Commission of Canada to Jamaica, who meet all the essential qualifications and whose applications are received by the closing date.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
All essential qualifications will be assessed. Methods of assessments and screening of candidates may include but are not limited to: verification of credentials, resume and letters of presentation; interviews, exams and practical tests; presentations or other types of assessments.
Education
This position requires:
- A Secondary/High School Diploma (or equivalent) from a legally recognized Secondary/Highschool.

Language
The Following languages and proficiency levels are required for this job. Candidates will be formally assessed or requested to provide proof of certification on these levels.
- An intermediate proficiency level (reading, writing, comprehension, and speaking) in English.
Experience
In order to perform the duties relevant to this job, the following experience is required.
- Three years cumulative experience in driving for an Embassy or High Commission, within the last 5 years.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of the road traffic regulations
- Knowledge of the street routes and traffic patterns of the Kingston metropolitan area
- Knowledge of information technology (IT), such as using navigation apps on a smartphone, and using Microsoft Office programs (e.g., Outlook, Word, and/or Excel)

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications.
- The ability to work in French.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Operational requirements will be assessed on a ``meet/does not meet`` basis and can be used to determine right fit of a candidate for the position.
- Hours of Work: Normal hours of work of work for this position are in accordance with Locally-Engaged Staff regulations of 40 hours per week.
- The employee must be willing and able to work overtime on short notice on evenings, weekends and public holidays.
- Travel: this position may require limited occasional travel domestically and/or internationally.
- The employee must be able to safely move boxes or suitcases, which weigh up to 50 lbs (22 kg) in/out of the car.
- The employee must drive in all types of weather conditions.
- Evidence of a clean, safe driving record. Before an offer of employment is made, candidates must provide a copy of their driving record from the Tax Administration of Jamaica or your Insurance Company.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Conditions of employment must be met or complied with before being appointed to a particular position. They are to be maintained throughout the employment period.
- Valid work authorization: Ability to obtain and hold a valid work authorization covering the entire employment period.
- Security screening: Obtain and maintain a Reliability Status (security level) which includes a criminal and credit background check from the Government of Canada.
- Possess a clean and valid Jamaican driver’s license (general motor cars & trucks – 1500kg or higher, PPV or commercial accepted).
- Maintain a 'fit to work' medical evaluation
