SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Security Supervisor – LE-G2 level (average of 48 hours per week – day and night shifts).

(Please note that only men will be considered for these positions, as Tunisian law prohibits women from working at night.)

The Security Supervisor, under the authority of the Chief Security Guard and the Program Manager, is responsible for ensuring the protection of people, property, and information at the embassy and associated sites. He supervises a team of four guards working 12-hour shifts and ensures the security and integrity of facilities, primarily at the embassy but also at the official residence or other designated sites. His duties include access control, monitoring security systems, conducting patrols, responding to incidents and emergencies, and preparing and reviewing incident summaries/reports. He also welcomes, screens, and directs visitors, ensuring a safe, efficient, and professional service. The Supervisor coordinates responses with embassy management or emergency services, assumes responsibility for shift activities, organizes replacement of guards during unforeseen absences, ensures proper handover between teams, and contributes to guard performance evaluations.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Education :

This position requires:

      • To have obtained the baccalaureate certificate from a recognized high school.

Language :

The Following languages and proficiency levels are required for this job. Candidates will be formally assessed or requested to provide proof of certification on these levels.

      • A basic proficiency level (reading, writing, comprehension, and speaking) in English.
      • An intermediate proficiency level (reading, writing, comprehension, and speaking) in French.

Experience :

In order to perform the duties relevant to this job, the following experience is required.

      • At least two (2) years of experience in a role involving interaction with the public or clients.
      • At least one (1) year of experience in team supervision.

Competencies :

All competencies* will be assessed. All competencies must be met prior to appointment.

      • Knowledge:
        • Solid knowledge of basic computer tools (internet navigation, word processing, spreadsheets, email, etc.).
        • Solid knowledge of general people and property security procedures and practices (searches, use of X-ray scanners, etc.).

        • Client Orientation: Client orientation is required to take responsibility for client service, deescalate situations in a professional and polite manner, resolve issues and seek to reassure clients or ensure their satisfaction.
        • Initiative and Action Orientation: Initiative is required to identify actions needed to carry out tasks assigned and proactively, effectively, and independently do them.
        • Working with Others and Horizontal Leadership: Working with others is required to participate in group initiatives and effectively work as part of a team.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications.

  • Experience supervising a team of more than five people.
  • Hold a post-secondary or university degree.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Professional experience within a diplomatic mission or international organization within the past five years.
  • At least six months of experience in the security field.
  • Specialized training in the security field.
  • Supervisory experience in a security context.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Operational requirements will be assessed on a “meet/does not meet” basis and can be used to determine right fit of a candidate for the position.

  • Hours of Work: Normal hours of work of work for this position are in accordance with Locally-Engaged Staff regulations of 48 hours per week.
  • Overtime: Willingness to work overtime on short notice.
  • Ability to work rotating schedules, including nights, weekends and statutory holidays.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts.
  • Ability to sit, stand, or patrol for extended periods, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring physical effort or the movement of heavy loads.
  • Willingness to wear the required uniform and equipment.
  • Good physical condition.
  • Ability to work overtime, sometimes on short notice.
  • Ability to report to required sites, including the Embassy (Lac II) and the Official Residence (Gammarth Supérieur), according to shift schedules.

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Conditions of employment must be met or complied with before being appointed to a particular position. They are to be maintained throughout the employment period.

  • Valid work authorization: Ability to obtain and hold a valid work authorization covering the entire employment period.
  • Security screening: Obtain and maintain a Reliability Status (security level) which includes a criminal and credit background check from the Government of Canada.
