As a vital member of our dynamic team, reporting to the Senior Regional Manager, you’ll be at the forefront of promoting Canadian capabilities and supporting companies navigating the Mexican market. This is a unique opportunity to combine strategic thinking, client engagement, and operational excellence in a globally connected environment.
What You’ll Do:
With a blend of autonomy and collaboration, you will:
- Champion Canadian Trade: Promote EDC’s financial solutions to Mexican companies sourcing goods and services from Canada.
- Advise and Empower: Provide Canadian exporters and EDC clients with actionable insights and guidance on business opportunities in Mexico.
- Deliver Market Intelligence: Conduct in-depth research and analysis to produce reports on market trends, regulatory changes, and strategic opportunities.
- Coordinate High-Impact Events: Support logistics for trade missions, executive visits, and business development events.
- Be a Strategic Connector: Act as a liaison between EDC’s Mexico City and Monterrey offices, Ottawa headquarters, and clients.
- Support Executive Operations: Assist the Regional Vice President and Senior Regional Manager with travel coordination and expense reporting.
- Ensure Operational Excellence: Manage payment processing and administrative functions to keep our Mexico offices running smoothly.
Area of selection/Eligibility:
This position is open people currently residing and legally able to work in Mexico.

Essential qualifications
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, language* and experience.
Candidates must clearly demonstrate when applying to the position how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

Education
- Candidates must have finished their university studies at a legally registered institution
Candidates must provide proof* of the completion of their education.
*Valid documents include: “titulo”, “cedula”, or an academic record/official letter confirming that 100% of university courses have been completed
Language:

Intermediate written and spoken proficiency in English OR French; AND Spanish (similar to B2 or higher in the Common European Framework of Reference - CEFR)
Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of experience related to the fields of international trade financing, international business development, and/or corporate banking.
Rated qualifications
The Rated Requirements are part of the essential qualifications and are relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies. Methods of assessment for rated requirements may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview online, pre-recorded or in-person, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment. All qualifications must be met.
Knowledge:
- In-depth knowledge of Mexican business markets, banking and/or insurance environments.
- Solid knowledge of the Canadian export and investment opportunities in Mexico.
- Good knowledge of software technologies (MS Office) to produce reports and to conduct on-line research via a wide variety of sources (i.e. online, databases, business contacts, banks and associations)

Asset Qualifications
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications.
- Master’s degree in relevant field (e.g. international trade financing, international business development, corporate banking or similar)
- International experience in business markets, banking and/or insurance environments.
- Intermediate (similar to B2 in the CEFR) or higher written and spoken proficiency in French AND English.
Operational Requirements
- Willingness to work overtime on ad hoc basis throughout the year (including evenings and weekends).
- Availability to travel occasionally (national and international)
- Willingness and ability to work in a combination of Mexican and Canadian statutory holidays, which means you will be required to work on certain Mexican holidays.
- The Embassy of Canada is an office-based work environment which does not offer remote or hybrid work arrangements.
Conditions of employment must be met or complied with before being appointed to a particular position, and are to be maintained throughout the employment while being the incumbent of this position.
- Hold a valid work authorization covering the entire employment period
- Security screening: obtain a Reliability Status (security level) which includes a criminal and credit background check from the Government of Canada covering the entire employment period (will be initiated once the recruitment process is complete and may take ~4 weeks).

- Applicants may ask to be assessed in the official language of their choice, however, some assessments may only be conducted in Spanish since candidates have to demonstrate they meet each essential qualification in order to be eligible for an appointment.
