Contract Type: Indeterminate (Full-time, 37.5 hours per week).
Term Details: This position is subject to the Terms and Conditions of Employment for a Locally Engaged Staff in the Dominican Republic. The results of this process may (or may not) be used to establish pools of qualified candidates for future openings at the same level in the Dominican Republic.

Summary of Duties:
You will be responsible for promoting the four pillars of Emergency Management (namely: mitigation, preparation, response, and recovery) and identifying, assessing, monitoring, and managing risks related to the security of our staff, assets, and properties. Other duties you will be required to perform include:
- Through research and analysis, providing advice and security briefings to diplomatic visitors and staff posted in the Dominican Republic.
- Building and maintaining a robust network of local operational security and emergency management contacts.
- Proposing options to address physical security or emergency preparedness needs or gaps.
- Reviewing, updating, and coordinating the Embassy’s security and emergency preparedness plans and trainings.
- Supporting the overall work of the section and performing other program related duties, as required.

Essential Qualifications
All essential qualifications will be assessed. Methods of assessments and screening of candidates may include but are not limited to verification of credentials, resume and letters of presentation; interviews, exams and practical tests; presentations or other types of assessments.
Education:
This position requires:
Bachelor’s degree from a legally recognized university / institution.
Note: Candidates will be required to provide proof of their education.
Language:
- An intermediate proficiency level (reading, writing, comprehension, and speaking) in English.
- An advanced proficiency level (reading, writing, comprehension, and speaking) in Spanish.
Experience:
A minimum of five (5) years of total professional experience in a public or private organization, gained across one or more of the following areas (experience may be in a single area or a combination):
- Project management: Experience coordinating projects and/or programs.
- Service delivery: Experience providing services in time-sensitive and complex situations.
- Networking: Experience developing and collaborating with a diverse network of contacts and stakeholders.

Asset Qualifications
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications.
- Experience in emergency management, crisis response, or business continuity planning.
- Experience developing, updating, or testing contingency or emergency plans.
- Experience working in a consular, diplomatic, international, or government context.
- An intermediate or higher proficiency level (reading, writing, comprehension, and speaking) in French.
Operational Requirements
Operational requirements will be assessed on a “meet/does not meet” basis and can be used to determine right-fit of a candidate for the position.
- Willingness to work overtime on short notice.
- This position may require limited occasional travel domestically and-or internationally.
- Onsite work (Monday to Friday) at our Office in Santo Domingo.
Conditions of Employment
Conditions of employment must be met or complied with before being appointed to a particular position. They are to be maintained throughout the employment period.
- Hold a valid work authorization covering the entire employment period
- Security screening: Obtain and maintain a Reliability Status (security level) from the Government of Canada, which includes a criminal and credit background check (will be started once the staffing process is completed and may take ~4 weeks).
