SUMMARY OF DUTIES

The mission is seeking to create a pool to fill administrative vacancies on a term, indeterminate basis (full time or part time) or to fill temporary needs (full time or part time) in any embassy programs following this selection process.

For Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, the successful candidate will support the delivery of the program by facilitating the processing of applications through procedural expertise and sound judgment, applying a thorough understanding of established guidelines, conducting research to support information gathering for application processing and demonstrating initiative in organizing work, managing resources, and resolving complex problems.

The successful candidate may be required to travel to Ghana and neighboring countries to support officers on immigration interview trips and may be required to assist an officer with reporting and liaison duties, conduct program integrity audits, liaise with visa application processing centers, participate in promotional and recruitment activities, or provide other client support.

 

AREA OF SELECTION

This selection process is open to all applicants, who legally authorized to reside and work in Ghana, including Embassy employees, Canada-based staff spouses and their dependent children of at least 16 years of age, who meet all the essential qualifications and whose applications are received by the closing date. 

This is an anticipatory competition, it will be used to create a pool to fill vacancies on a term, indeterminate basis (full time or part time) or to fill temporary needs (full time or part time) in any embassy programs. The pool will be valid for up to 24 months following the conclusion of the competition.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

All essential qualifications will be assessed. Methods of assessments and screening of candidates may include but are not limited to: verification of credentials, resume and letters of presentation; interviews, exams and practical tests; presentations or other types of assessments.

Education

This position requires:

      • A Bachelor's Degree or Undergraduate diploma from a legally recognized Post Secondary Institution (at least 3 years of study).

Note: Candidates will be required to provide proof of their education.

Language

The Following languages and proficiency levels are required for this job. Candidates will be formally assessed or requested to provide proof of certification on these levels.

      • An advanced proficiency level ( writing and speaking) in English.

Experience

In order to perform the duties relevant to this job, the following experience is required.

      • One (1) year cumulative recent* experience working in an office environment in an administrative support role.

* Recent experience is defined as within the last five (5) years.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications.

  • Experience working in a diplomatic mission or international organization.
  • Minimum of three months’ experience using an integrated information or data management system (such as the Global Case Management System) to accomplish work-related tasks.
  • Basic knowledge of Canadian immigration policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of French and/or any local languages.

 

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Operational requirements will be assessed on a “meet/does not meet” basis and can be used to determine right fit of a candidate for the position.

  • Hours of Work: Normal hours of work of work for this position are in accordance with Locally-Engaged Staff regulations of 37.5 hours per week.
  • Overtime: Willingness to work overtime on short notice.
  • Willing to work in a high-pressure environment
  • Respect set work hours and show flexibility with assigned duties.
  • Travel: This position may require limited occasional travel domestically and/or internationally.
  • On-site presence is required (no telework or hybrid options).

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Conditions of employment must be met or complied with before being appointed to a particular position. They are to be maintained throughout the employment period.

  • Valid work authorization: Ability to obtain and hold a valid work authorization covering the entire employment period.
  • Security screening: Obtain and maintain a Reliability Status (security level) which includes a criminal and credit background check from the Government of Canada.
  • The successful candidate must be willing to undergo a medical examination and obtain medical clearance. Appointment to the position is subject to meeting this requirement.
