Summary of Duties:
Under the general supervision of the Common Services Officer, the incumbent is responsible for performing maintenance and repair work in the field of electricity, including the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical equipment in the chancery buildings, the official residence, and staff accommodations.
The incumbent is expected to assist in the preparation of preventive maintenance programs as appropriate and to assist other members of the maintenance team to complete various projects outside their area of expertise.
The incumbent must also inspect the work done by contractors to ensure compliance with manufacturers' specifications and consult with their supervisor if necessary. He could be required to carry out manufacturing projects with or without the support of external contractors.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, language* and experience.
Candidates must clearly demonstrate when applying to the position how they meet each of these essential qualifications.
*Language will be assessed further during the process.
Education:
Candidates will be required to provide proof of the completion of their education.
Certificat d’Aptitude Professionnelle (CAP) or Certificat de Qualification Professionnelle (CQP) or equivalent combination of relevant studies, training and relevant experience in carpentry.
Language:
- Knowledge of French* (oral and written).
- Knowledge of Wolof (oral).
* The incumbent must have sufficient oral and written French to understand the instructions and clearly communicate the information with colleagues, owners, contractors and local suppliers.
Experience:
Have at least three (3) years of recent* work experience in a home / industrial maintenance / repair job in carpentry and in at least one of the following areas: plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, painting.
* Recent means in the last five (5) years.
RATED REQUIREMENTS
The Rated Requirements are part of the essential qualifications and are relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies. Methods of assessment for rated requirements may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview (online pre-recorded/live or in-person), role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of electrical safety standards and technical codes applicable in Senegal.
- Knowledge of repair techniques in electricity and in at least one (1) of the following areas: plumbing, carpentry, painting, air conditioning.
- Proficiency in reading plans, diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Proficiency in reading plans, schemas and technical notes.
- Knowledge of health and safety rules.
Competencies:
- Ability to perform technical analyzes, evaluations and recommendations.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications.
- Experience in a similar position within a diplomatic mission or an international organization.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
Operational Requirements:
- Working hours: 40 hours per week.
- The employee will occasionally have to work extra hours with or without notice and be available to answer, in case of emergency, telephone calls that may occur after regular hours including weekends and holidays.
Conditions of Employment:
Conditions of employment must be met or complied with before being appointed to a particular position, and are to be maintained throughout the employment while being the incumbent of this position.
- Valid work authorization: Ability to obtain and hold a valid work authorization covering the entire employment period.
- Security screening: Obtain and maintain a Reliability Status (security level) which includes a criminal and credit background check from the Government of Canada covering the entire employment period.
- Other conditions of employment:
- Before an offer of employment can be made, candidates must provide a local address as proof of residence in Senegal so that if selected, it will appear on the offer letter.
- Valid driver’s license (B minimum) during the entire employment period.
- Be able to do physical work such as moving furniture, appliances or lifting boxes.
- Meet the requirements of the medical examination (mandatory).
