Summary of Duties:
Under the general supervision of the Common Services Officer, the responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
- Provide and execute general repair and maintenance services in one or more of the following areas: electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, masonry, painting, as well as specific functional maintenance (such as heating, ventilation and air conditioning) for all Embassy offices, Official Residence and staff quarters;
- Execute preventive maintenance program and ensures that all equipment receive necessary maintenance and safety certifications as per local health and safety regulations;
- Assist in the implementation of projects including installation and assembly of furniture and equipment;
- Supervise and inspect work performed by contractors to ensure compliance to specifications;
- Support logistic activities for hospitality and official events set-up.
Area of Selection:
Open to internal and external applicants who, at the time of application, are eligible to work in Greece and are legal residents of Greece or one of the EU countries part of the free mobility agreement. Applications must be received by the closing date.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, language* and experience.
Candidates must clearly demonstrate when applying to the position how they meet each of these essential qualifications.
*Language will be assessed further during the process.
Education:
Candidates will be required to provide proof of the completion of their education.
- Diploma (or higher) from a recognised technical school, college or Technological Education Institute (TEI);
- Valid class B driver’s license, with a clean driving record.
Language:
- Advanced Greek (written and oral);
- Intermediate English (written and oral).
Experience:
- A minimum of three (3) years of recent* professional experience as a maintenance technician or in a similar position with responsibility for repair/maintenance in plumbing, electrical or HVAC.
*Recent is defined as within the last seven (7) years.
RATED REQUIREMENTS
The Rated Requirements are part of the essential qualifications and are relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies. Methods of assessment for rated requirements may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview (online pre-recorded/live or in-person), role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.
Knowledge:
- General knowledge of the following areas: plumbing, electrical, heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC)/refrigeration and locksmith services according to local technical standards;
- Knowledge of electrical systems and components;
- Knowledge of health and safety standards required in maintenance and property-related fields;
- General working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook and Excel) as well as use of mobile devices.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications.
- More than three (3) years of *recent professional experience as a maintenance technician or in a similar position with responsibility for repair/maintenance in plumbing, electrical or HVAC. *Recent is defined as within the last ten (10) years
- Previous professional experience in one or more of the following areas : masonry, carpentry, painting;
- A valid electrical license;
- A trade designation in one of the following fields: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC;
- Previous experience in a similar position working for a diplomatic mission or international / governmental organization;
- Written and oral command in French at an intermediate level
Operational Requirements:
- Availability and willingness to work overtime with short notice, which may include weekends;
- Must be available to respond in case of emergency to telephone calls which may take place after working hours and during weekends;
Conditions of Employment:
Conditions of employment must be met or complied with before being appointed to a particular position, and are to be maintained throughout the employment while being the incumbent of this position.
- Valid work authorization: Ability to obtain and hold a valid work authorization covering the entire employment period.
- Security screening: Obtain and maintain a Reliability Status (security level) which includes a criminal and credit background check from the Government of Canada covering the entire employment period.
Special Request from Mission / Additional Comments:
- Applicants who are Greek Nationals must have completed their regular military service to be eligible (as applicable).
- Must possess and maintain a valid permanent driver’s license (min. Class B);
- Must be able to perform physical tasks such as moving furniture, appliances, heavy boxes, etc.
- Must be able to meet the medical requirements as defined by the employer. Successful candidate(s) will be required to undergo a medical evaluation.
- Required to be in good health with vision and hearing appropriate to the main duty of driving (visual aids such as glasses, contact lenses, or hearing aids are acceptable).
