SUMMARY OF DUTIES 

  • Consular assistance and advocacy to Canadians
  • Issuance of emergency travel documents when relevant
  • Notarial Services when required
  • Support for the supervising mission in developing commercial and economic relations
  • Support for the supervising mission in maintaining bilateral relations
  • Administrative and logistical support for official visits
  • Representation at diplomatic, ceremonial, and public affairs events 

 

OFFICIAL LANGUAGES AND DIVERSITY

  • Preference may be given to candidates in underrepresented groups. Candidates are encouraged to include language proficiency (English/French). 

 

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Reside in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) for most of the year.
  • Independent work authorization in BiH
  • Demonstrate tangible connection to Canada (citizenship, education, employment, family, etc.) 

 

DISQUALIFICATION FACTORS 

  • Holding any governmental position locally
  • Inability to deliver program due to other commitments
  • Political activity
  • Real or potential conflict of interest 

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE 

  • University degree or equivalent experience
  • Decision‑making experience regarding sensitive/complex issues
  • Experience dealing with multiple levels of government

  • Ability to maintain good relations with local authorities 
  • Ability for rapid access to local authorities 
  • Understanding of political, economic, social dynamics in BiH

  • Must comply with Ethical and Political Activity Guidelines for Public Office Holders 
  • Subject to the Conflict of Interest Act
