Salary: MYR 63,478 - MYR 82,162 per annum. The starting salary is non-negotiable and will be the lowest amount of the salary range; 13th and 14th month bonus (equal to two-months salary). Per current terms and conditions: a performance based yearly salary increase and paid overtime.

Summary of Duties:
The incumbent oversees all culinary aspects of the Official Residence of the Head of the mission (ambassador-level), including the planning, creation, and preparation of meals for official and unofficial events (includes formal and informal breakfast, luncheons, dinners, cocktails and receptions) and the purchasing of products, the control of the food inventory and costs, the equipment inventory and maintenance, as well as the planning and preparation of a balanced diet for the Head of Mission and his or her dependents. Supervision of Official Residence staff.

This vacancy is open to candidates who have the right to reside and work in Malaysia as well as to all employees of the High Commission of Canada in Malaysia occupying an indeterminate or term position, including emergency employees, who meet all of the essential requirements stated below, and whose applications are received by the closing date.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, language* and experience.
Candidates must clearly demonstrate when applying to the position how they meet each of these essential qualifications.
*Language will be assessed further during the process.
Education:
Candidates will be required to provide proof of the completion of their education.
- Diploma in Culinary Arts, Catering or Food and Beverage from a government recognized institute/college/university or an acceptable* combination of education, training and experience.
* Acceptable combination of education and relevant experience is considered as a total of 3 years or more.
Language:
- Fluency in English or French is essential (reading, writing and speaking).
Experience:
- At least two (2) years of recent experience (in the past four years) working as a Sous-Chef or Chef in a restaurant, hotel, diplomatic mission, or similar service environment in the Food & Beverage industry.
- Experience in cooking Western and local cuisine.
RATED REQUIREMENTS
The Rated Requirements are part of the essential qualifications and are relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies. Methods of assessment for rated requirements may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview (online pre-recorded/live or in-person), role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications.
- Experience in baking breads and pastries.
- Experience in meal preparations for large events.
- Knowledge of Canadian cuisine and ingredients.
- Adept with Microsoft office suite programs (Outlook, Excel and Word)
- Experience working with a diplomatic mission
Operational Requirements:
- Basic hours of work: 37.5 hours per week
- Ability to work overtime (weekdays and/or weeknights and/or during weekends if job demands).
- Required to work directly with the high-profile officials in a diplomatic environment.
- Leave may occasionally be restricted due to operational requirements.
- Ability to lift boxes up to 20 kg.
Conditions of Employment:
Conditions of employment must be met or complied with before being appointed to a particular position, and are to be maintained throughout the employment while being the incumbent of this position.
- Valid work authorization: Ability to obtain and hold a valid work authorization covering the entire employment period.
- Security screening: Obtain and maintain a Reliability Status (security level) which includes a criminal and credit background check from the Government of Canada covering the entire employment period.
