Summary of Duties:
The Consulate General of Canada to India, in Mumbai is seeking to hire a Senior Regional Manager at the LEPS level within the Export Development Canada Section.

EDC is a Crown corporation, wholly owned by the Government of Canada, is financially self-sustaining, and is a recognized leader in financial reporting and economic analysis. While headquartered in Ottawa, Canada, EDC has a worldwide presence.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Under the leadership and guidance of the Chief Representative – India, the Senior Regional Manager is responsible for leading/co-leading EDC’s business development efforts in India including strategic relationship management and implementation of EDC’s business strategy and country plan.
- Provides insights to Senior EDC Management on the Indian market in terms of innovative financial solutions needs, including the Market Leader Partnership Program, to meet country specific and regional business needs of Canadian exporters and investors and provides advice and recommendations on investments and business opportunities for Canadian companies, aligning with EDC’s strategy and philosophies.
- Develops new relationships in the Indian business community with partners and leading corporates in industries aligned with EDC’s Indo Pacific strategy to create opportunities for Canadian exporters, while identifying solutions to support the financing needs for such new business.
- Pro-actively manages accounts of key Indian borrowers, prospects and market intermediaries, and ensures a systematic management of EDC’s Canadian accounts active or interested in the Indian market.
- Provides oversight and leadership of the development and implementation of sales and client engagement initiatives in India. Additionally, as the EDC India (Mumbai) office evolves over time, this position may be required to provide guidance, performance management and leadership to direct reports.
- The Senior Regional Manager is also responsible for building and managing the brand image and reputation of EDC in the market as well as the Corporation’s relationship with the Canadian Government, in respect to India.
Area of Selection:
This position is open to individuals who are currently residing & eligible to work in India, including all employees of the High Commission of Canada and Canadian missions in India, who meet all of the essential requirements stated below, and whose applications are received by the closing date.
Short-listed candidates should be able to participate in tests and/or interviews in Mumbai at own expense. Other Government of Canada locations may be considered on an ad hoc basis. The successful candidate will be required to relocate to Mumbai at own expense.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, language* and experience.
Candidates must clearly demonstrate when applying to the position how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

Education:
Candidates will be required to provide proof of the completion of their education.
- A university degree successfully completed in an area related to the position available (may include international relations, international finance, international commerce, business administration, marketing)
Language:
- Advanced written and spoken proficiency in English
Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in a strategic relationship management role with capital providers or financial intermediaries with experience in commercial/corporate lending and/or project finance deal structuring.
- Experience working with large corporates and/or state-owned enterprises in India across a spectrum of industry sectors to originate new financing opportunities.
- Experience with coordinating conflicting priorities within tight deadlines and meeting business targets.
RATED REQUIREMENTS
The Rated Requirements are part of the essential qualifications and are relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies. Methods of assessment for rated requirements may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview (online pre-recorded/live or in-person), role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.
Knowledge:
- Solid knowledge of local business culture, Indian corporate finance practices, and banking and financial institutions environments.
- Solid knowledge of international capital markets, principles of commercial credit, and common financing structures, with a focus on international trade financing.
- Solid knowledge of the Canadian export and investment opportunities in India.

Abilities:
- Ability to identify a financing need and structure loans and financial instruments that meet client needs, as well as a financial institution’s internal standards (credit, mandate, ESG, etc.).

- Ability to develop and maintain a network of clients, local contacts and influencers
- Ability to identify local market needs and relevant business opportunities.
- Ability to conduct research and analysis and provide strategic advice.
Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications.
- Knowledge of Environmental, Social and Governance standards in an export credit agency context
- Experience working for an export credit agency
- Evidence of deep networks in Indian corporations
- Master's degree in a field related to the position.
Operational Requirements:
- Hours of work: Normal hours of work for this position are in accordance with Locally-Engaged Staff regulations of 37.5 hours per week.
- Location of work: Work is normally performed on-site with flexibility for teleworking.
- Travel Requirements: Ability to travel throughout India, and to Canada, as required.
- Work outside regular business hours when required and work in virtual teams.
Conditions of Employment:
