Term Details: This position is a Locally Engaged Staff position, subject to the Terms and Conditions of Employment for LES in Vietnam. This process will be used to create a list of eligible candidates for similar positions either indeterminate, term or temporary.

Introduction:

Export Development Canada (EDC) provides financing, working capital, risks mitigation solutions and market knowledge to help Canadian exporters and investors expand their international business. EDC helps 8,400 Canadian companies and their global customers in up to 200 markets worldwide each year.

EDC is financially self-sustaining and is a recognized leader in financial reporting, economic analysis and human resource management. We offer the largest pool of trade finance specialists in Canada.

 

Summary of Duties:

Under the supervision of EDC’s Chief Representative and with a measure of independent judgment and action, the EDC Officer promotes EDC’s financial capabilities to companies in the region interested in procuring goods and services from Canada; advises EDC clients and Canadian companies on business opportunities in the regional market; supports logistical arrangements for incoming visits or events; undertakes administrative tasks to support the operations of EDC’s representation as well as the Chief Representative in Ho Chi Minh, prepares the annual budget, provides strategic market intelligence via research reports, market studies and statistical summaries related to opportunities,

changes in rules and regulations and challenges for EDC financing and insurance businesses, 

acts as a liaison between EDC’s Ho Chi Minh representation office, Singapore and Ottawa-based colleagues, and clients, as requested; replies to written and telephone inquiries from EDC internal and external clients, local importers and potential borrowers; performs other duties and services of the EDC Ho Chi Minh representation office as required.


 

AREA OF SELECTION

This selection process is open to all applicants, who are residing and legally authorized to work in Vietnam, including Embassy employees, Canada-based staff spouses and their dependent children of at least 16 years of age, who meet all the essential qualifications and whose applications are received by the closing date.

Education

This position requires:

  • University degree successfully completed in an area related to the positions available (may include international relations, finance, international commerce, political science, business administration, marketing) OR an acceptable combination of education, training and work experience related to the duties and specific areas of competence required by the position, including but not limited to business or economics.

Language

Experience

In order to perform the duties relevant to this job, the following experience is required.

  • A minimum of 3 years of recent * working experience related to the fields of international or trade financing, or international business development, or corporate banking or similar.

    *recent is defined as within the last 7 years.

  • Possesses basic understanding of various trade financing instruments and knowledge of international finance.

  • Ability to organize, lead and execute various types of Marketing initiatives to support EDC Strategy in Vietnam.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications.

  • International experience in the fields mentioned in the experience requirement section.
  • Proficiency in French.

 


 

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Hours of Work: Normal hours of work of work for this position are in accordance with Locally-Engaged Staff regulations of 37.5 hours per week. And ability to work overtime, when needed and on short notice.
  • Location of work: Work is normally performed on-site with flexibility for teleworking.
  • Travel Requirements: This position might require travel throughout the ASEAN region as well as in Canada.

     

     

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Valid work authorization: Ability to obtain and hold a valid work authorization covering the entire employment period.
