Summary of Duties:
Under the supervision of the Head of mission/Deputy Head of mission, the Director of the Official Residence oversees the design, planning, and delivery of services for the mission's and Official Residence's official events, including logistics, protocol, and promotion of interests, in addition to ensuring the development and implementation of the mission's events policy.
This includes reviewing all event proposals, making recommendations to ensure the success of events, managing resources, developing the events policy in collaboration with the mission's programs, drafting contracts and letters of agreement, and seeking opportunities in the region.
Area of Selection:
This position is open to candidates who are eligible to reside in France and work legally on a permanent basis in France as an employee at the time of application, and who meet all the prerequisites, i.e., all the essential qualifications and, where applicable, the qualifications that constitute an asset, and whose applications are received by the closing date.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, language* and experience.
Candidates must clearly demonstrate when applying to the position how they meet each of these essential qualifications.
*Language will be assessed further during the process.
Education:
Candidates will be required to provide proof of the completion of their education.

Higher education diploma (two years of post-secondary education).
Language:
• Good knowledge of French (spoken and written).
• Intermediate knowledge of English (spoken).
Experience:
• Three years of recent experience, i.e., acquired within the last 10 years, in event management and hospitality.
• Experience in customer service.
RATED REQUIREMENTS
The Rated Requirements are part of the essential qualifications and are relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies. Methods of assessment for rated requirements may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview (online pre-recorded/live or in-person), role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.
Knowledge:
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
• Knowledge of standards and protocols in hospitality services.
• Knowledge of health and safety principles for hospitality and event management services.
Competencies:
• Customer-focused approach.
• Resilience and adaptability.
• Judgment and discretion.
• Demonstrating initiative and being action-oriented.
Abilities:
• Organization and coordination of multiple events.
• Ability to negotiate and network.
• Effective management of budgets and resources.
• Ability to supervise employees by setting objectives, assigning and monitoring work, and providing coaching and advice.
Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications.
• Training in hospitality, catering, or management.
• At least three years of full-time experience in high-end catering.
• Experience in a diplomatic mission, international organization, or multinational company.
• Supervisory experience.
Operational Requirements:
• Full-time position, 5 days/week, Monday through Friday.
• Able and willing to work overtime on short notice, outside normal operating hours (weekends, evenings, holidays).
Conditions of Employment:
Conditions of employment must be met or complied with before being appointed to a particular position, and are to be maintained throughout the employment while being the incumbent of this position.
Valid work authorization: Ability to obtain and hold a valid work authorization covering the entire employment period.
Security screening: Obtain and maintain a Reliability Status (security level) which includes a criminal and credit background check from the Government of Canada covering the entire employment period.
