Summary of Duties:
Area of Selection:
This external competition is open to all applicants legally residing in Hong Kong SAR at the time of application who meet all essential qualifications and whose applications are received by the closing date, including Consulate employees and spouses of Canada-based staff. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Hong Kong SAR.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, language* and experience.
Candidates must clearly demonstrate when applying to the position how they meet each of these essential qualifications.
*Language will be assessed further during the process.
Education:
Candidates will be required to provide proof of the completion of their education.
- Graduation from a recognized university with a bachelor’s degree;
OR
a combination of studies combined with a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in one or more of the following fields: service delivery to the public, consular, citizenship, passports, case management related to persons in distress, emergency management, personnel management, public administration etc.
Language:
- Ability to communicate fluently in English (reading, writing and speaking)
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year work experience in an office setting;
- Experience using a computer, word processing and spreadsheet software, electronic mail and other web-based applications in an office environment;
- Experience working in a client-service environment, including the delivery of courteous and effective in-person and telecommunication service.
RATED REQUIREMENTS
The Rated Requirements are part of the essential qualifications and are relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies. Methods of assessment for rated requirements may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview (online pre-recorded/live or in-person), role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications.
- Familiarity with the Canadian environment / culture will be considered an asset.
- Proficiency (reading/writing/speaking) in French.
- Experience working within a government environment.
Operational Requirements:
- Hours of work: Mondays-Thursday: 08:15 to 17:15;
- Fridays: 08:15 to 12:45;
- Hours of work are subject to change;
- Must be able to work overtime on short notice on occasion; and
- Must be available for occasional duties outside normal working hours (i.e., evenings and weekends);
- Ability and willingness to travel occasionally;
- Ability and willingness to travel, including internationally.
Conditions of Employment:
Conditions of employment must be met or complied with before being appointed to a particular position, and are to be maintained throughout the employment while being the incumbent of this position.
- Successful candidates must be able to obtain certification by Passport Canada within 3 months of employment.
- Valid work authorization: Ability to obtain and hold a valid work authorization covering the entire employment period.
- Security screening: Obtain and maintain a Reliability Status (security level) which includes a criminal and credit background check from the Government of Canada covering the entire employment period.
- Other conditions of employment:
The appointment of the successful candidate will be subject to obtaining Reliability Status (RS). To conduct the RS process, the successful candidate must submit the following documents on being selected by the Mission:
- Completed Reliability Status Check forms (provided by the Consulate General);
- Consent form for Reliability Status Check – for local criminal record check and Canada’s vetting/evaluation (provided by the Consulate General);
- Proof of address from your bank or other recognized companies stating your name and your address;
- Professional and education mark sheets or certificates;
- Letters of reference;
- Reference checks – from three referees;
- HKID card or valid work permit;
- Passport photo x 1;
- Credit check results;
- Other documents as required.
