SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Under the general supervision of the Senior Consular Program Officer, the Consular Assistant provides administrative support services for the passport and citizenship programs.
The Consular Assistant:
- Receives and processes passport applications in person, including document review, data entry, fee collection, and client follow-up.
- Provides urgent passport services by handling urgent files and printing emergency travel documents, temporary passports, and observation labels.
- Provides citizenship services by reviewing citizenship applications and supporting documentation.
- Supports internal operations of the consular section by designing and implementing internal tracking documents.
- Responds to general client inquiries in person, by telephone, and in writing regarding Canadian passport and citizenship laws, regulations, and services.
AREA OF SELECTION:
This selection process is open to all applicants, who are residing and legally authorized to work in Morocco, including Embassy employees, who meet all the essential qualifications and whose applications are received by the closing date.

Education
This position requires:

- A higher education diploma (equivalent to a Moroccan or French bachelor's degree +3 years) or a post-secondary diploma from a Canadian institution, with specialization in a field relevant to the position (customer service, management, case management, administrative services, etc.).

- A secondary school diploma (equivalent to the Moroccan/French baccalaureate or Canadian high school diploma) combined with two additional years of relevant work experience.

Language

Experience
In order to perform the duties relevant to this job, the following experience is required:

- Recent* experience of at least two years working in customer service (including telephone, written, and interview interactions) and in administrative management of client files.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualification.
- Experience delivering consular or passport services within a government organization.
- Experience working in Canada or in an organization serving Canadian clients.
- Experience working at a Canadian mission abroad.
- Passport certification for Foreign Operations (PMP).
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Hours of Work: Normal hours of work for this position are in accordance with Locally-Engaged Staff regulations of Lundi à jeudi de 8:00 à 16:00 et vendredi de 8:00 à 13:00 hours per week.
- Overtime: Willingness to work overtime on short notice.
- Travel: This position may require limited occasional travel domestically and-or internationally.
- Direct interaction with the public.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Conditions of employment must be met or complied with before being appointed to a particular position and are to be maintained throughout the employment while being the incumbent of this position.
- Valid work authorization: Ability to obtain and hold a valid work authorization covering the entire employment period.
- Security screening: Obtain and maintain a Reliability Status (security level) which includes a criminal and credit background check from the Government of Canada.
- Must successfully complete Passport Training for Foreign Operations within four weeks of hiring and obtain a score of 80% or higher on the certification examination.
