Summary of Duties:  
 
The objective of this competition is to fill vacancies at the LE-A2 level in the Human Resources & Finance sections at the High Commission. The pool of qualified candidates created from this selection process can be used for future vacancies in various programs at the mission, including Common Services.

Human Resource Assistant (2 positions)  
 
In this role, you’ll support the Human Resources section by managing records, analyzing workforce data, and assisting with official policy implementation. You’ll contribute to process improvements, help identify solutions to complex problems, and work to ensure compliance with regulations and responsible information management.  
 
This position offers exposure to a broad range of HR-related activities, focusing on efficiency and operational excellence within Canada’s diplomatic mission in India.

Finance Assistant (1 position)  
 
In this role, you’ll deliver financial and analytical support across various functional teams, ensuring accurate financial reporting, smooth transactions, and effective budget management. You’ll assist with banking operations, financial reconciliation, and information management while serving as a trusted resource for internal clients.  
 
This opportunity also offers exposure to a diverse range of financial operations, contributing to Canada’s diplomatic mission in India.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS 

Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, language* and experience. Candidates must clearly demonstrate when applying for the position how they meet each of these essential qualifications. *Language will be assessed further during the process.  

 

Education: 

Candidates will be required to provide proof of the completion of their education. 

  • Government recognized university degree in any discipline, with Finance and/or Accountancy as one of the completed subjects. Please provide a final year mark sheet* as part of your application   

* Academic transcript, student report, report card etc. are also accepted. 

 

Language: 

  • Advanced proficiency in English (oral and written) 

  • Advanced proficiency in Hindi (oral) 

Experience: 

Mandatory requirements: 

  • Recent experience in research and analysis, writing reports. * 

  • Recent experience in events, visits, meetings and/or conference coordination.  * 

  • Recent experience in a client-facing role * 

Additional requirements: 

For the Human Resources Assistant position:

  • A minimum of 2 years' recent* experience is required, including some experience using data management software to manage human resources data (please specify which software program you have used, including details about which modules/functions and for what purpose.) 

For the Finance Assistant position, 

  • A minimum of 2 years' recent experience is required, including some experience using SAP, specifically the Financial Accounting module (please specify level of experience with SAP, including details about the modules/functions you have used and for what purpose. 

* Recent experience is defined as normally acquired within the last five (5) years 


RATED REQUIREMENTS 

The Rated Requirements are part of the essential qualifications and relate to knowledge, abilities and competencies. Methods of assessment for rated requirements may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview online, pre-recorded or in-person, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment. 

 

Knowledge: 

For both positions candidates must have:

  • Knowledge of standard office administrative practices, processes, and procedures 

 

For the Human Resources Assistant position candidates must have:

For the Finance Assistant position candidates must have:

Asset Qualifications: 

Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications. 

The following are optional criteria and applicants do not need to have these to apply, however some preference may be given to candidates that have some or all these additional criteria or competencies.

  • Ability to communicate in French (orally and/or in writing)

  • Experience working with corporate banking

  • Work experience in a diplomatic mission and/or international organization 


 Operational Requirements: 

  • Hours of work will be 37.5 hours/week. 

  • Be able and committed to working additional hours as required, and on short notice, during evenings and weekends.    

  • Must be willing to travel domestically within India and internationally (if required). 

  • The High Commission operates a schedule of public holidays according to a combination of Indian and Canadian dates, which means you will be required to work on certain Indian holidays. 

  • The employee is able and available to work on a full-time basis in-person at the mission or mission designated location, which may include working from home on certain occasions. 


Conditions of Employment: 
 

Conditions of employment must be met or complied with before being appointed to a particular position and are to be maintained throughout the employment while being the incumbent of this position. 

  • Valid work authorization: Ability to obtain and hold a valid work authorization covering the entire employment period. 

  • Security screening: Obtain and maintain a Reliability Status (security level) which includes a criminal and credit background check from the Government of Canada covering the entire employment period.
