Summary of Duties:
As part of the administrative services program at our Embassy, you’ll play a unifying role between clients and the staff from the different programs in our embassy, as well as a support role by addressing the inquires of a visitor / caller (in English, French and Spanish) and by ensuring that office operations run smoothly. Other duties you’ll perform are:
- Supporting the logistics of events, visits and travel arrangements
- Coordinating transportation requirements and other dispatching duties;
- Receiving, sending and directing mail and packages for the post;
- Ensuring that all payments and process are adhered to as per our internal policies and procedures.
- Supporting the overall work of the section and performing other program related duties, as required.
Area of selection/Eligibility:
This position is open any person currently residing and legally able to work in the Dominican Republic.
Please note that the Embassy of Canada to the Dominican Republic does not sponsor work authorizations directly or indirectly; and does not reimburse any travel costs to and from interviews/exams nor does it reimburse any relocation costs.

Essential qualifications
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, language* and experience.
Candidates must clearly demonstrate when applying to the position how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

Education:
Candidates will be required to provide proof of the completion of their education.

A high school diploma from a legally registered institution
Language:

Intermediate or higher written and spoken proficiency in English AND Spanish (similar to B2 in the Common European Framework of Reference - CEFR)
Experience:
Experience working for a public or private organization in the following fields:
- Providing administrative support / performing clerical duties
- Providing client service and dealing with the general public in person, by telephone, and/or electronic messaging,
- Using MS Office Suite, e.g., Word, Excel
Rated qualifications

Asset Qualifications
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their application and as required, during the selection process, how they meet any of the following asset qualifications:
- Intermediate or higher written and spoken proficiency in French (similar to B2 in the CEFR)
- Experience working as a receptionist or administrative assistant in a corporate office.
Operational Requirements
- Willingness to work shift work and overtime, often on short notice (including evenings and weekends).
- Willingness and ability to work in a combination of Dominican and Canadian statutory holidays, which means you will be required to work on certain Dominican holidays.
- Due to the nature of the Consular services, this position requires to be working onsite (Monday to Friday).
Conditions of Employment
Conditions of employment must be met or complied with before being appointed to a particular position and are to be maintained throughout the employment while being the incumbent of this position.
- Holding a valid work authorization covering the entire employment period
- Security screening: maintain a Reliability Status (security level) from the Government of Canada, which includes a criminal and credit background check.
